1500 words, that isn't much, I feel for ya! I was going to suggest use of lightweight materials such as carbon fiber, but it looks like you don't need much content for your paper!!

Yep, our local autox location (at an airport) was shut down this year supposedly due to noise also. The local council is supposedly working something out with the airport to allow us to race there next year, because the autox clubs bring in a load of money to the local economy... We've always been within the regulated noise limits, but all it takes is a complaint and the council and mayor get right on it and shut things down.

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :Dude, you seeing it all wrong, i didn't make the thread and tbh im not really too arsed when it will be released but if they say an estimated month and they say "but it could be before or after that" then it would stop threads like this instead of sayin "a long time" which gives us absolutely no clue. I only even reaplied because i thought the guy would of got flamed and i didn't think he deserved it, its the devs fault not his IMO.

Yes but don't you get why they don't say 'estimated a month but it could be before or after'?? As soon as they give that estimate, and a month and one day passes, people start to whine. They say 'hey it was supposed to be roughly a month, so it should be out any day now'. Then they start complaining more and saying they have a right to know why it's taking longer than it should, and then it just gets out of hand. And that's shit that the devs shouldn't have to deal with. And that's why they don't give estimates. Does that not make sense to you?

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :Why don't they just ANSWER, i really don't get it, stops stupid threads like this...

FFS.... do you not read any of the posts Scawen makes?? He's said many times why they don't give any estimates on releases. It's so people like you don't come along and say things like "BUT YOU PROMISED IT TO US ON THIS DATE!" when in actual fact they did nothing of the sort, they just provided an estimate. Then when this 'promised' dates comes and goes and it is not released, everyone gets very upset and starts talking about the demise of LFS again. So you may want them to just ANSWER, but, as Scawen has mentioned many times, that's not how they work, because (1) they don't actually have an answer for you right now, and (2) if they did, it would likely change down the line anyway, as that's the nature of this sort of development.

I know what this thread needs (just like almost all the previous grip vs drift threads)...

Anyone else having trouble downloading Net Framework 3.5? Looks like the server is down for it today. Any other download for it I've found just points to the Microsoft one and doesn't work either. Maybe that's not even why I can't get this tweak working, who knows Seems like a lot of effort though.

Quote from swisscosmo :I was the youngest person to ever bike (pedal bike) across Canada and i was 10 and i was on the news everywhere.

That's cool I've always wanted to do that but never really got around to it yet! The fact that you did it when you were 10 is pretty awesome. What inspired you to make the trip? And did you go east to west, or west to east?

I'm glad to see another one of these threads, I'm sure it had been at least a week since the last one! Why does it always have to be a competition between 'grip' driving and drifting?

Quote from Breizh :Anyone have new news on Bob's Tweak?

I am wondering this as well Really looking forward to it, hopefully it's still in the works. Not to take anything away from the current effort, mind you. Nice to have something for the current patch at last

Yeah, the people I know who have told people they were suicidal were either suicidal but wanted to change, or they weren't suicidal and just wanted attention. All the people I know who actually took their own lives didn't talk about it before hand.

Yeah, excel would be perfect for something like that.

Quote from MAGGOT :I don't feel sorry for him that he took his own life, though. I'm not saying 'it's the easy way out' but it is stupid and selfish and left his friends and family in a wreck, no doubt.

I think it's a difficult thing to understand unless you've been there. It's easy to say he's stupid and selfish for doing that, and it's certainly easy to be angry with someone close to you for taking their own life, because you feel it's selfish and stupid. But at the same time you have to look past that and understand that depression is a disease and they were not at all in the right frame of mind when they made that decision.

Well I agree they don't look good, but I am still excited about the increase in mechanical downforce and reduced aero, potentially could really improve the racing. And you can't argue that slicks don't look better than the grooved tires.

Good to hear... having followed your progress since the napkin sketches, I was really excited for you to have got some financial support and premises to move into! I think I'll have to make a trip down to PIR once you get the production dp1 chassis going with the V8 in it

Quote from Luke.S :I just had a TVR style experience. First i got a little understeer then all of a sudden it was holy shit when I got a huge amount of snap over steer.

Well although the FZ5 has the looks of a more recent 911, perhaps you're right and it's handling is just that bit closer to the earlier ones

Well lerts has now created 89 threads! Good going! You'll soon be at 100 at this rate. Would be nice if you could keep all your thoughts and theories to one thread, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. :P

My helmet is plain white, so I put a bit of black tape on the back of it so the guy testing me could see when I was turning my head. Without that, it might not always be so obvious... So if you have a plain helmet, consider putting some kind of marking on the back to make it easier for the tester to see when you are turning your head.

Also, don't forget to shoulder check when pulling out, changing lanes, making a turn, etc etc....

Thanks for the report on the RAC

Quote from Luke.S :I think the FZ5 has too much power. It is like an old 911. It is stupidly tail happy. Glad there are no rounderbouts with tree's in the middle in lfs

Well it has a similar amount of power to a 996 GT3... I think it's so tail happy because people use setups that cure the understeer problems so it'll turn in nicely. By the time you get rid of understeer you are going to be suffering with a lot of oversteer in this kind of car I have autocrossed a 996 GT3 with about the same power as the FZ5, and you really are managing understeer most of the time. Yes it'll power oversteer, but more often than not you're worrying about keeping the front end going where you want. If you set the FZ5 up similarly I'm sure it would feel a lot less twitchy.

Yes that would be good, nice to have the same car in iRacing and LFS, be a nice comparison of how the two sims feel.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :The styling of the Caterham at the moment is iconic, as it's based on an iconic car. It would seem a crying shame to change it. I guess they could modernize it a bit, but the general look would need to remain.

They're not changing it. It's planned to be produced alongside the 7 as a second model in their 'range' of cars.
